Definitely! GCR isn't just for motocross riders. The coaching focuses on fundamental skills that transfer to motocross, enduro, and trail riding. • Braking techniques
  • Cornering
  • Clutch and throttle control
  • Reading terrain & line selection
  • Standing position and movement on the bike
  • Jumping
  • Basics
  • etc

What is your favourite gear brand?

Whatever fits well, feels comfortable, and gives you confidence on the bike. It’s gotta fit your style, we feel style in mx helps you express yourself!

What is your favourite brand of bikes?

We are being completely bias here and we are team Stark Varg. They’re incredibly beginner friendly while still being insanely capable for experienced riders. There's no clutch or gears to worry about, which means you can focus on your body position, braking, cornering and building confidence instead of stalling or finding the right gear. The power is fully adjustable too, so we can tailor the bike to suit each rider's skill level. They're also much quieter, making coaching easier because riders can actually hear instructions while they're riding. For Girls Can Ride, they've been a game changer because they help women learn faster, feel more confident, and spend more time enjoying the ride.

How do I get over my fear of jumping?

The biggest mistake riders make is trying to overcome fear by forcing themselves to hit a jump they're not ready for. Fear isn't the enemy. Build your confidence one step at a time. Master the fundamentals first, then gradually increase the size of the jumps as your technique improves. Every rider progresses at a different pace, and that's completely okay. At Girls Can Ride, we break jumping down into small, achievable steps so you build confidence through successful repetitions, not by hoping for the best. Confidence comes from repetition in the correct body position, not pressure. Our best advice is nail the technique first, and do this technique ROLLING over the jump, once you feel comfortable in the correct technique increase your speed and make sure its consistent speed and then you’ll get confident to do it over and over until you’re eventually getting air!

How to get faster in the corners and carry more speed around the corners?

Speed through corners isn't about being more aggressive, it's about being smoother. Focus on looking further ahead, getting into the right body position, weighting your outside peg, and choosing a good line. Brake before the corner, not through it, then get back on the throttle smoothly as you exit. The riders who carry the most corner speed usually aren't trying to go faster, they're making fewer mistakes.

When are you back in North East VIC?

At the moment we are not travelling while our founder has her injury, so we don't have any plans to come back to North East Vic just yet. The good news is we've had girls travel from all over to come to GCR! We've had riders from South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, and even the USA. A lot of the girls turn it into a little holiday or girls' weekend, which makes it even more special.

I’ve always wanted to start motocross but I don’t have the money for the bike and gear?

We completely understand motocross isn't the cheapest sport to get into. Our biggest piece of advice is not to feel like you need everything all at once. Start small, keep an eye on the second-hand market, borrow gear if you can, and buy things gradually. Most riders build their setup over time, not overnight. If it's something you've always dreamed of doing, don't let the cost make you believe it's impossible. You don't have to have everything today, you just have to keep taking small steps towards it. We created a video a couple years back now on the cost of getting into moto so if you want it dm us on instagram and we will send it to you!
